Roundtable Umbrella Movement Revisited

Three months after the end of the occupation, observers are divided about the accomplishments of the movement. Some point out that it was unable to inflect the framework for political reform. Others highlight the deeper changes that the movement has begun to bring about in Hong Kong society. This panel discussion will be devoted to assessing the movement from various angles: its place in the evolution of Hong Kong politics and institutions, its specificities as a contentious social movement, its social composition in the context of socioeconomic polarization that characterizes Hong Kong, and its influence on Hong Kong - Beijing relations.
